Worship Ministry
Praise and Worship Ministry Guidelines
Thank you for expressing interest in the Praise and Worship Ministry of Alliance Church in Randolph, NJ. As part of this ministry, we have the opportunity to bring God's people into His presence. We believe that God has called each of us.
"But you are a chosen seed, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may proclaim the marvelous works of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." (1 Peter 2:9)
As members of this ministry, we are fully committed and united in our mission to proclaim the wonders and greatness of God.
We understand it is necessary to have God's calling to be part of the Praise and Worship Ministry - this is between you and God.
The desire and practice of praising God is an essential and healthy part of our spiritual lives that God has placed in our hearts, but this desire is not necessarily a call to the worship ministry.
VISION:
Helping people connect with God in a personal way, through exciting praise and intimate worship. We desire to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We long to enter into true worship where our spirit worships and connects with the Spirit of God, where the very core of our being is found loving and worshipping Him.
MISSION:
Incorporate eclectic musical diversity so that you can reach different groups of people
Teach and guide the congregation in experiencing God's presence through praise and worship
Develop members of the Praise and Worship ministry to deepen their service to God through ministry
Fundamentals:
We are called to minister through worship, not acting
The music is designed to encourage the congregation to be participants rather than spectators
We desire to strike a balance between organized presentation and being spontaneous and flexible in following the leading of the Holy Spirit
Requirements to be considered for an audition:
Have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, and have been baptized after you have made that decision
Be an official member of the Alliance Church of Randolph, NJ
Demonstrate your commitment by regularly attending church services
Qualities we look for:
A cooperative and humble attitude/submission to church leadership and ministry leadership
Passion for God and a heart to worship
Commitment to the responsibilities listed in these guidelines
Areas of commitment:
Spiritual preparation:
We, as members of this ministry, must come to church spiritually prepared. We need to arrive ready to bring others into God's presence. It is important for each member to invest time developing their relationship with God through prayer, fasting, and meditation on the Word.
Participation in church meetings:
Attendance - members of this ministry must faithfully attend services, Sundays and weekdays.
Prayer - On Sundays we start with prayer at 8:30 and immediately go into a sound check. It is expected that you will be there as early as needed before 8:30, to settle in and get ready.
Family commitment:
It is critical that your immediate family members are willing to accept the necessary time commitment and support your involvement in this ministry.
Stage Presence:
Because we worship on a highly visible platform, our body language should express humility and joy as we serve, sing, and play for the Lord. Facial expressions, hand gestures, and awkward movements are clearly noticeable. We must be careful not to draw unnecessary attention to ourselves, so as not to be a distraction. Equally important, we don't want to exhibit inhibitions or fear when expressing ourselves through worship.
When singing/worshiping, be aware of and sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the type of music that is being implemented. Be attentive to the leader's cues, while maintaining an attitude of worship.
Dress:
We are called to love and respect every member of the ministry, the congregation, the church leadership, and God. We honor Him and others with our clothing. Whenever we are called to participate on any platform or venue, the expectation is that the clothing will be clean, appropriate, and conducive to full participation. With respect, we ask that you please always maintain the standard of modest dress, appropriateness, and integrity.
Musical performance:
It is the responsibility of each member of the ministry to become familiar with the selected musical material.
Both musicians and vocalists must be musically gifted and competent to follow a service that is "directed by the Spirit of God." To move from the planned to the spontaneous it is necessary to have mastery of the musical material. Our musical goal should be the ability to "flow" in God's anointing, all in unison.
Because our desire is to be and do our best in the service of the Lord, we must work regularly on our instrument and/or vocal ability. This means a lot of one-on-one practice before we get together for rehearsals.
Special Events:
The ministry occasionally leads worship for special services, conferences or meetings, in church or other places. On these occasions part of the group will be invited to participate. This decision will be made based on the needs of each participation, availability of members, and other considerations. The final decision will be made by the Director of the ministry.
Periodically, as a ministry, we gather for food, fellowship, and entertainment. This time is just as important as our rehearsal time.
Heart of Worship:
We are ministering to God, not acting for the congregation.
As we sing/worship the Lord, He will minister to the body of Christ, to His bride the church... through us, its vessels.
We desire to flow under His direction, power, and anointing.
Responsibilities On-stage and off-stage:
Examplary life - we must live a life of righteousness before God and man. The Bible tells us to flee temptation and avoid the very appearance of evil. Our testimony is a reflection of the God we worship and his bride, the church.
Unity and harmony - our behavior should promote unity and harmony in all that we do, and we want to invite the Holy Spirit in all our preparation, individual practices, and rehearsals. We must be aware of the way we behave and avoid gossip, competitions and conflicts. Let us be light in front of all.
Social Media – we hope that if you use any social media platform (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc.) you will do so wisely and understand the responsibility that comes with your involvement in this ministry when posting any content or comment. We are to display the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Gal. 5:22-23). Let us be instruments in the hands of God and not allow ourselves to create division or strife.
